First Vice - President Directs Human Rights Commission to Speed up Formulation of Report on Human Rights in Sudan

Khartoum, Mar. 26 (SUNA) - The First Vice - President of the Republic, Lt. Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, has directed the National Human Rights Commission to speed up the efforts in formulating a report on human rights in Sudan on ground that it is an independent body. He stressed that the report shall be a comprehensive and reflecting to the reality of human rights in Sudan at the regional and international levels. This came when he received Monday at the Republican Palace a delegation of the National Human Rights Commission, headed by its chairperson, Hurriya Ismail Abdul-Muhsin. In a press statement after the meeting, Deputy Chairman of the commission, Dr. Habib Yunthan Hammad, said that the First Vice - President has given a directive for giving concern to the media work toward enhancing the openness and expanding the human rights' culture among individuals and the communities in Sudan. He indicated that the First Vice - President has affirmed the Presidency keenness to support the commission in carrying out its role as a national independent body. Dr. Hammad said that he briefed the First Vice - President about the commission's performance in the past period. MO
