Agricultural Chambers, AOAD organize food conference on April

Khartoum, Feb. 10 (SUNA) - The Director General of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) Prof. Ibrahim Adam Al-Dekheiri has stressed the importance of the role of the private sector in the efforts being exerted to achieve the objectives of the organization. During his meeting with the leaderships of the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture and Animal Production to brief them on the convening of the "International Conference on Food Safety" to be organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Khartoum during April 8-10 under the slogan "Towards a Safe and Sustainable Food", the AOAD Director General said that the agriculture and production sector was one of the major pillars which have been working to develop agriculture and achieve food security to reach the stage of Arab integration through the integration of resources, expertise and capital.  Prof. Al-Dekheiri pointed out that the organization was able, through its programs and strategies, to fill a large part of the food gap in the Arab countries, estimated at 34 billion dollars, and was imported from abroad.  For his part, the Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of Agriculture Hashim Ali Mohamed Khair praised the efforts and initiatives of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and its efforts towards the achievement of the aspirations of the Arab nation to achieve the goal of Arab food security, referring to the harmony and compatibility of the objectives between the federation and the organization, stressing their readiness to establish a partnership for the promotion of the agricultural and animal resources sectors, pointing out to the initiatives and activities undertaken by the federation to increase production, improve export commodities and achieve food safety in line with the international requirements in order to increase exports and raise their competition in foreign markets, reaffirming their support for the AOAD programs through communication and coordination between them for the benefit of the private sector.
