Khartoum 10,0ct,2017,(SUNA)- The experience of Europe Union is one of the strongest phenomena of cooperation between states in the field of regional and international relations after the second world war that resulted to create vital changes in political geography of European continent. European Union is an important model of integration in world and is considered a pioneer one due to its great success specially in the economic sectors that make the Europe Union a common regional strong block capable to compete other international blocks. Sudan news agency interviewed the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Sudan Ambassador Jean-Michel Dumond who spoke on Current events of Sudanese political arenas and aspects of Sudanese European cooperation :- **In the wake of the decision of the US to remove the Economic sanctions from Sudan … what is the position of the European Union? **We welcome the easing of the US sanctions on Sudan. It represents an important step in Sudan's efforts at re-integration into the international community. We expect Sudan to make further progress in addressing the several challenges that still remain. **What are those areas for Sudan that the European Union thinks Sudan should make progress? **In this regard, the European Union encourages the government of Sudan to progress further towards peace and reconciliation in Sudan. This includes the strengthening of the democratization process and respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms as well as commitment to genuine political and economic reforms, addressing the root causes of conflict in Darfur and the two areas. We are ready to accompany Sudan in this process, in particular towards free and credible elections and an inclusive constitutional review, in line with the African Union High level implementation panel (AUHIP) roadmap led by President Mbeki, which the EU supports. ** needs technical and financial assistance especially in the humanitarian field on the issues of refugees whose Sudan hosts thousands of them from neighboring states and displaced who come from conflict areas in addition to problems of development and eradicating poverty? Is there special European support to Sudan on those areas? **As Minister Ghandour visited Brussels at the occasion of the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of the IGAD countries, he was told that the EU will provide additional 60 million Euros of technical and financial assistance. This aid will target in particular the refugees and internally displaced persons. This assistance will contribute to developing sustainable solutions for the problems of these persons. The European Union objective remains to shift from crisis management to long term development. At the same time, our humanitarian office known as ECHO, continues to provide assistance in basic services for the refugees and displaced persons in Sudan. **It is very important to promote cultural diplomacy and projects related to culture and tourism in the coming period, how do you see the EU cooperation in this area? **Sudan has a very large potential as regards to tourism and culture. In connection with the European cultural centers present in Sudan (Goethe Institute, Institut Francais and the British Council), EUNIC will develop a strategy aiming at enhancing our cooperation with Sudan in this sector. We will focus in particular on promoting opportunities for creating jobs such as fashion and design. In parallel, the European Union is co funding Sama International Music Festival which will be held in October 2017. The Festival will bring European and international artists to Sudan. In addition to the concerts there will be 5 workshops that will see European and Sudanese students and musicians exchange music and experiences. In November 2017, the European Union will launch with 15 European countries the 9th European Film Festival. This is the oldest international film festival in Sudan and it has shown more than 110 movies and was attended by 130,000 Sudanese. Since 2008, the festival is an excellent opportunity to learn about Europe, cinema in Europa and the highly artistic award winning movies which are screened in the international film festivals. All those festivals are done in coordination with our partners at the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, of Culture, as well as European culture centers and other local partners and private sector in Sudan. .
