Acacia Senegal tree has various benefits particular in semi dry areas and represents fundamental components in productive and agricultural systems in that regions due to these trees role in discontinuation Sand dunes and increase the soil fertilizing in addition to provide woods for energy and animal fodder. Sudan News agency conducted interview with General secretary of Gum Arabic council in Sudan Dr, Abdul Majed Abdul Gader who spoke on the current amount of production , manufacturing , problems often face producers and the solutions, the state's policies for exporting and feedback of revoking policy of monopoly on increase rate of exporting:- **what is the origin of use the word" Arabic" that became related to gum spite the product is Sudanese? *word "Arabic" is misrepresentation to the word of " Erabee" in language of Bija tribe in East Sudan and means " white" . As there is misunderstand that name was because the commodity had been exported from Arabic seaports. **Does Sudan still the main source of Gum Arabic in world? *Yes Sudan is the main source due to one third of the belt area existed inside the Sudanese lands . **how much is total area of the Gum Arabic belt, how many states inside it and how many the population who live there? *Gum Arabic belt extend from eastern borders with Ethiopia and in west with Chad state . total area are 500 Km equivalent of 6 states in Europe Union. Belt of mining and geology in states of East Sudan, East of Nile river state and north of Sinnar state. Belt of Cotton and irrigated agriculture include states of Sinnar, Al- Jazeera, Al-rahad and south Kordfan. Belt of wheat include Nile river state, Northern state and north of Kurdfan and Darfur states. Liberation policy began in 2009 and in the same time had been established Gum Arabic council. ** Describe to us specifically role of the council towards this commodity? *it is a coordinative role for increase production and improve productivity according to the international standards . we need to establish a bank for financing needs of these sector's and organize producers of gum Arabic in Cooperative groups capable to get finance via banks. We also work to expand areas of cultivating for more production and the safety of environment. ** what about the council's achievements after revoking monopoly policies in gum Arabic sector? * Sudan's total exported from gum Arabic was about 18.000 ton , in international price of 1200 dollars per ton and the local consumption was 500 ton only. The smuggled quantities estimate of 35 .000 ton. ** what about the council's efforts to promote producing Gum Arabic in our country? * we established via cooperated with Central Bank Bursa of Exporting under auspice of Bank of Farmer in amount of 300 million US dollar. Another Bursa supervised with Development & Saveing bank of capital 100 million dollar and third Bursa under auspice of Industrial Development Bank to promote the industries depend on gum Arabic , in a capital of 25 million dollar, what contributed to activate exporting and promote sector of producers. As the council prepared special scientific articles of producing gum Arabic culture and submitted them in the Academic curriculum. ** what about the international support to develop sector of gum Arabic? *During last five years world Bank provided 10 million US dollar to promote sector of gum Arabic in addition to technical assistance of 3 million dollar from France Development Agency. **what is the first country in consumption Gum Arabic and are there new markets? *United states of America is the first state in a rate of 40 % from the total country's production of 100 million ton. New markets were discovered in India, China, Malaysia and South Korea. **In a wake of revoking economic sanctions on Sudan what are your expectations for future of export Gum Arabic export in Sudan? * I expect great and unexpectable increase to American demand for this vital commodity and directly away from brokers.
