Sudan-Turkey’s economic partnership bolstered

Khartoum, September 9 (SUNA) - The Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Dr. Mohamed Osman Al-Rikabi has affirmed Turkey's strong support to Sudan in all international forums and its rejection to the unjust decisions. This came during talks between the Sudanese and Turkish sides held at the Corinthia Hotel in Khartoum, in the presence of Sudanese-Turkish and ministers. The Minister of Finance revealed the signing of the joint statement of the strategic cooperation program for the establishment of strategic cooperation council at a high level between the two countries during the visit of the Turkish President to Sudan. That is besides the signing of a number of memorandums of understanding and protocols in the fields of agriculture, mining, tourism, trade and technology transfer.  Dr. Al-Rikabi pointed to the importance of the visit, which included arrangements for the opening of Turkish banks’ branches in Khartoum, besides discussing the procedures for investing in mining and energy as well as the participation of four major Turkish companies in the field of investment within the framework of supporting and encouraging the Turkish private sector. He referred to the framework agreement signed between the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the Turkish Petroleum Company to start the company's investment in oil. For his part, the Turkish Minister of Agriculture pointed to the desire of Turkey to enter into the fields of investment in energy, industry and agriculture, pointing out that Sudan is the most important country in Turkey's commercial relationship, revealing Turkey's support for the establishment of commercial banks, as well as support of Turkish businesspersons to invest in Sudan. He pointed to the Turkish trend towards Africa, stressing that Sudan is rich in minerals that have not been produced, pointing to the development of work in the field of mining as there are wide opportunities in the domains of communications and transportation for the benefit of the two countries. He revealed that Turkey was considered as one of the important countries in agriculture and technology and Sudan should benefit from it.
