Cabinet Reviews Future of Textile Industry .

Khartoum, Nov. 4 (SUNA) – Presided over by its Prime Minister Mutaz Musa, the Council of Ministers discussed Sunday a report on the spinning and weaving industry in Sudan and the future vision presented by the Minister of Industry and Trade Dr. Musa Karama. Dr. Karama explained the relative advantages of this sector, which it absorbs large numbers of the labor force, consumes the agricultural inputs available in the country and has capability to realize self-sufficiency due to the availability of good production, adding that the sector has a domestic, regional and global renewable market. The official spokesperson of the Council of Ministers Dr. Omer Mohamed Salih said, in a press statement, that the report contained details of the design and operational capacities in the cotton ginning, spinning, weaving and ready-made clothes, revealing that the report has come out with a number of recommendations including cotton production, financing of production and processing, tax review and energy problem solution as well as the encouragement of the establishment of accessories factories. The Cabinet listened to a practical report on the possibilities of Sur International Ready-Made Garments Company, which founded through Sudanese-Turkish-Qatari partnership and produces according to the best international specifications of yarns and ready-made textiles. The Council of Ministers decided to re-produce the national strategy for spinning and weaving and turn it into a matrix that specifies the requirements and measures through it will be implemented and the implementation timetables within one month from today. The leather products should be included in the matrix, in addition to the setting of specific timetable for reaching the export stage. The Cabinet should receive a quarter report on the Strategy implementation progress
