Yassir Merghani: Consumers have Right to Obtain Information

Khartoum,  June 26 (SANA) The Secretary General of the Sudanese Society for Consumer Protection, Dr. Yassir Merghani, has affirmed that access to information is a right of the consumer, adding that the cutting off the internet service by telecommunications companies is contrary to normal rights of the consumer.

In statement to SUNA he noted to a petition to sue telecom companies, explaining that the consumers paid the value of the service and did not enjoy it, indicating that some enjoy the internet service, which confirms that there is a preference category on the citizens, he wondered on what basis that the internet service was stopped.

Dr. Yassir has pointed to the negative impact of stopping the internet service on citizens and their social, economic and other activities, stressing that every citizen wants to complain on the telecom companies he has to give mandate to the Sudanese Society for Consumer Protection to pay him a fair compensation for the cut off Internet service from the telecoms companies.
