Indian Embassy Celebrates Gandhi’s 150th Anniversary

 Khartoum, Oct.9(SUNA)- With  participation of a number of officials, diplomats,  and  some foreign communities  resident in Sudan, the Embassy of India  in Khartoum  celebrated  at the Green Yard  in Khartoum  the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who is also known as father of  the nation.


 The celebrations will last for a year until October 2nd, 2019.


 The Indian Embassy, in a statement  issued  Tuesday  and  a copy of which SUNA obtained, the celebration was held to  cast  light  at  importance of  Gandhi’s message and philosophy  on today’s  world  and his ability to inspire the  present generation.


 The statement said the Embassy organized a screening of Gandhi  message and  sayings  in form of LED video which was highly appreciated by  the audience .


 It added  that the Indian government issued a series of postage stamps to commemorate Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary.


 The event , the statement further added, witnessed  release of a set of postage stamps  by Ambassador Ravindra Prasad Jaiswal  along with Assistant of the President of the Republic, Dr Awad Al-Jas, and General Manager  of SudaPost, Kamil Mustafa ,besides  presenting  cultural programs  by  some Sudanese singers  and Indian community in Khartoum.


 SUNA noted that  the  celebration  was attended by the Assistant  of the President  of the Republic and  Deputy Chairman  of  BRICS Higher Committee, Dr Awad Al-Jas, Minister of Infrastructure  and Transport  in Khartoum State, Engineer Khalid Mohamed Khair, Presidential Affairs Commissioner , Amira Abu Tawila and  SudaPost’s General Manager, Kamil Mustafa as well as a number of  members of diplomatic missions  in Sudan.
