Khartoum, Dec. 11 (SUNA) - The Minister of International Cooperation Osman Ahmed Fadl Wash held, at his office in the ministry Wednesday, meeting with the Sudan Ambassador to Switzerland and Head of its Permanent Mission in Geneva, Dr. Mustafa Osman Ismail.
Wash explained that the meeting was very important in which views were exchanged on the accession of Sudan to the World Trade Organization (WTO), stressing that the ministry was able, through the tight coordination with the relevant authorities in the previous period, to prepare the basic memorandum on Sudan foreign trade system upon which the multi[arty negotiation process is based, in addition to the Sudan's plan with respect to the laws pertinent to foreign trade, revealing that the Presidency of the Republic has been giving great concern to this file.
For his part, the Sudan Head of the Permanent Mission in Geneva stressed, in a press statement, that the meeting was fruitful and constructive and got acquainted with the level of preparations carried out by the Ministry of International Cooperation on the issue of Sudan joining to the World Trade Organization.
The ambassador added that there would be an important meeting to be held at the end of January at WTO headquarters in Geneva within the framework of the objective arrangements for the Sudan accession to the World Trade Organization according to the road map by the end of this year, adding that the mission in Geneva has been chasing with the ministry to ensure the success of these steps to culminate Sudan access to the organization.
For his part, the Sudan National Negotiator to Join WTO Dr. Hassan Ahmed Taha stressed that the arrangements pertinent to the next meeting made great strides and that the delegation includes competent experts in all areas.
