Bashir Renews Sudan's Commitment to Stand by World Nations Against Drugs

Khartoum, July 11 (SUNA) The President of the Republic cum Police High Commander Field Marshal- Omar Bahsir has reiterated Sudan's firm stance with world nations to put an end to spread of drugs, a major threat to Sudan's national security.

In his address before the opening session of the International Day for Drug Control, held at the Friendship Hall, President Bashir stressed the active participation in all international efforts aimed at a world free of drugs.

The President called on all the concerned ministries, institutions and relevant authorities to double efforts for eradicating drugs trafficking and use, stressing the government keenness and readiness to provide all technical, material, legal and structural assistance that would help block the spread of drugs.

The President praised the efforts exerted in combating drugs, giving directives for a comprehensive awareness campaign involving all relevant parties in order to consolidate the convictions on the dangers of drugs, which he considered as the first line of defense.

He also called on the community starting from the families upward to the educational and social institutions, to lead a comprehensive campaign targetting the youth to prevent and protect them from drugs.

President Bashir lauded the great success achieved in the field of drug combating by all relevent bodies, praising the National Committee for Combatting Drugs for its efforts in this regard, saying the government stand ready to back the committee for its local and international initiatives seeking to combat drug.
