Head of UNAMID informed on situation in Kutum

Al-Fasher, Aug. 6 (SUNA)- The Wali (governor) of the North Darfur State, Osman Mohamed Yousif Kibir, affirmed that the situation in Kutum town is noe under control and that life there has returned to normalcy.
Upon receiving the Head of the Joint United Nations - African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Prof. Ibrahim Gambari in Al-Fasher Monday, Kibir said that he had deliberated with Gumbari over the regrettable incidents following assassination of the Commissioner of Waha Locality in the past days and the efforts being made to contain the situation.
He disclosed that a delegation of the state government led by the Deputy of Wali left Sunday to inspect Kutum town.
He expressed his appreciation of logistic support provided by UNAMID to handle the situation at Kutum.

Prof.Gambari said in a statement to SUNA that he exchanged views with the Wali of the North Darfur State on the regrettable incidents that occurred in Kutum in the past days, adding that UNAMID will continue to work for protecting the civilians and delivering humanitarian assistance to the needy people.
