National Committee for Pests and Diseases ratifies 49 technologies for combating disease, insects and weeds


Medani, June 21 (SUNA) - The National Committee for Pests and Diseases has ratified, in a meeting 86 headed by the acting Director General of the Agricultural Research Corporation Dr. Adil Omer Salih, 49 technologies for combating diseases, insects and weeds.
This took place amid participation of researchers from the Agricultural Research Corporation, Sudanese universities, Sudanese Sugar Company and Kenana Sugar Company. Al-Rahad Agricultural Scheme, Al-Suki Agricultural Scheme, New Halfa Agricultural Corporation and Sennar Sugar Industry have also taken part in the meeting.
The Director of the Research Centre Crop Protection at the Agricultural Research Corporation and rapporteur of the committee, Prof. Jamal Abdullah al-Badri has explained seven pesticides of grass were approved, five of which to increase sugar productivity and two to increase sugar concentration, two pesticides against aquatic weeds and 23 weeds -combating grasses.

He added that the committee also ratified insecticide against bollworms in maize, early warning anti-fruit fly insecticide and a number of other technologies.
