Mechanisms to be Established for Issuing Permanent Constitution

Khartoum, Aug. 10 (SUNA) - The Constitutional Document for the transitional periodو agreed upon by the Transitional Military Council and the Forces for the Declaration of Freedom and Change, has stipulated establishment of mechanisms to prepare a permanent constitution, convene the National Constitutional Conference before the end of the transitional period and enact the legislations relating to the tasks of the transition period.

This was stated in Article Seven of the constitutional document on the tasks of the transitional period, which obliges the state organs to carry out specific tasks in the transitional period, including the development of a program to reform the state organs during the transitional period in a way that reflects its independence and nationality and fair distribution of opportunities, without prejudice to the conditions of eligibility and efficiency and attributing the task of reforming the military organs of the military institutions according to the law.

The tasks of the transitional period include working out a balanced foreign policy that achieves the supreme national interests of the state, works to improve Sudan's foreign relations and build on the basis of independence and common interests in a way that preserves the country's sovereignty, security and borders.

The tasks of the transitional period also include dismantling the structure of the empowerment system of the ousted regime and building the state of law and institutions.
