A meeting on emissions reduction held

Singa, February 13 (SUNA) - The National Forest Corporation of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources held a consultative meeting Thursday in Singa, the Capital of Sennar State, in accordance with the program on the reduction of emissions resulting from deforestation and forest degradation.  The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture, a number of Sudanese experts in the agricultural sector and several concerned parties as well as herders federations, where the partners presented proposals and solutions on the possibility of reducing emissions in a way that benefits everyone from protection of forests and provision of pastures while maintaining agricultural areas. The participants called for the use of modern technology in all agricultural, animal and forest resources fields.  The International Expert on Climate Change Dr. Najm-Eddin Al-Qutbi presented a report on the previous studies conducted in the three concerned states in order to get acquainted with all the information related to the study in this field, pointing to the environmental and economic benefits that the states attain from the optimal use of forests to reduce emissions.
