Khartoum, May 21 (SUNA) - Sudanese Armed Forces issued Friday a statement on the signining of a truce on ceasefire Yesterday in Jeddah. The following is unofficial transition for the text of the statement:

"In appreciation to the Saudi- American meditation efforts to mitigate the repercussions of the ominous rebellion on our citizens and facilitating the humanitarian aspects, the Armed Forces signed yesterday a short - term agreement on ceasefire, besides humanitarian arrangements with the rebel militia on May 21 , 2023 in Jeddah. The duration of the short-term ceasefire is seven days, which will come into force on Monday evening, May 22, 2023 at 9:45. The agreement is just for military and technical aspects on the arrangements for a temporary ceasefire, measures of  freedom of movement of  the civilians, protection of civilians from violence and violations which have been practiced against them by the rebel militia since the beginning of the rebellion on last April 15, as well as the evacuation of hospitals, maintenance of service facilities and related issues without discussing any political situation.   The armed forces announced their commitment to the text of the agreement and hope that the rebel militia will adhere to what is stated in the agreement".
