Khartoum, July 15, 2023 (SUNA) - President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan Saturday received a phone call from Kenyan President William Ruto.

Al-Burhan conveyed to the Kenyan President, during the phone call, the reasons for the reservation of the Government of Sudan on Kenya’s presidency of the Quartet Committee mandated by the IGAD to address the crisis in Sudan, and his rejection of the outcomes of the summit that was held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa recently.

He affirmed Sudan’s sovereignty over its lands, as it is not possible to Eastern and Southern African Forces (ESAF ) without the consent of the Government of Sudan.

The TSC President added that the Rapid Support militia was a component of the armed forces and rebelled against it, revealing that it destroyed the infrastructure, killed, looted and displaced citizens, occupied their houses, raped women, destroyed, occupied and vandalized service centers, and killed and displaced citizens in El Geneina in the worst forms of war crimes.

Al-Burhan stressed the Sudanese government's readiness for a cease-fire whenever the rebels responds to evacuate the citizens' houses, water, electricity and energy service centers, hospitals, civilian objects and government utilities.

He stressed the importance of the Jeddah platform, thanking the Saudi and American governments for facilitating the negotiation process. Al-Burhan expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Kenyan President for his contact and reassurance on the situation in Sudan. BH/BH
