Khartoum, Dec.30(SUNA)- Official of Child Registration at the Council for Child Welfare in Khartoum State, Hanaa Al-Bili has reiterated  that  over 4000 children   in Khartoum State have not  been registered  due to financial conditions of families  and partly to long distance  of registration centers from children homes particularly   in  suburbs of the capital  and its  rural areas.

This came while she was addressing on Tuesday a workshop on results of Study  on Roadmap for organizations operating  in the field of child welfare organized by the Council for Child Welfare in Khartoum State  in collaboration with UNICEF and in presence of organizations operating in area of child welfare, directors of development departments in the seven localities of the state , the population council  and raising of  communities awareness departments.

 Al Bili acknowledged  existence of some challenges  and  implications  facing the infant registration operations , calling for revoking the Article(5), Paragraph(2) and the Article(24) of the International Convention on  the Rights of the Child that stipulates free issuance of birth certificate for children.

Secretary-General of the Council for Child Welfare in Khartoum State, Amal Mamoon lauded role of civil society organizations  in implementing the  childhood projects and programs  in the State , calling the organizations  to make use of results of the study  in  implementation of  the programs of infant  registration thoroughly  and scientifically.
