Khartoum, Feb. 22 (SUNA) – The Foreign Minister, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, received in her office Monday the new Ambassador and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa who handed Dr. Mariam a copy of  her credentials.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between Sudan and the Republic of South Africa and ways of consolidating them for the interest of the two friendly nations.

The Foreign Minister has lauded the support of South Africa for Sudan during its presidency to the African Union, and stressed the importance of cooperation to strengthen African unity and to consolidate the values of peace, democracy and the leadership of women to be part of the African cultural heritage.

     The Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa The South African affirmed her country's determination to do its utmost to increase the cooperation with Sudan in various domains, especially in the investment field.

She expressed her country's aspiration to support the transitional period in Sudan, especially after the signing of the peace agreement and the removal of Sudan from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
