Khartoum, Feb. 22 (SUNA) – The Foreign Minister, Dr. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, received in her office Monday the new Representative of the World Health Organization (WHO) to Sudan, Dr. Niema Saeed Abid, who handed her a copy of his credentials.

The Minister appreciated the great efforts made by the World Health Organization in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic, stressing the importance of coordination with the Federal Ministry of Health in Sudan for the optimal employment of financing of the World Health Organization for the interest of the Sudanese people.

On his part, Dr. Niema Saeed affirmed that the priorities of the World Health Organization are identical to the priorities of the Sudanese Ministry of Health regarding the establishment of an integrated health system, sanitation, the fighting of epidemics, the epidemiological surveillance system, rapid response, vaccination, and enhancement of the health service packages at all levels by focusing on the rehabilitation of emergency units and providing free of charge treatment at them.
