Khartoum, March.24 (SUNA) – Sudan and the World Bank signed, Wednesday, a 390 agreement for the second phase of the Family Support Program (Samarat) out of the total 820 million dollars allocated for the program.
Finance Minister, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim signed for Sudan while, the WB Country Director, Ousmane Dione, signed for the Bank.
Dr. Ibrahim, addressing the signing ceremony, outlined that the agreement which was signed via the International Development Association (IDA) not only expresses financial funding, but also it considered an achievement through which we returned to the international community and the World Bank.
“It’s an achievement to be added to the achievement of peace and the government will work with all seriousness to fulfill the obligations of of peace operations” the minister stressed.
Responding to questions by the journalists on the implications of implementations of the economic reforms package impacts on the citizen, the minister said the Family Support Program will contribute to alleviate burden on the citizens.
The WB official, on his turn, expressed pleasure over the continuation of the Sudan-WB partnership to make the program a success through provision of all the available resources and capabilities.
