Khartoum, Mar.29 (SUNA)-Sugar Beet Factory is expected to be inaugurated in upcoming days in Nahr- Al-Neil state.
The factory which is the first of its kind in producing sugar from beet in Sudan estimated to cost US$150 million.
An estimated 60, 000 acres of agricultural land is allocated for the project and the factor itself engages 60 acres.
The Chairman of Board of Directors of the project Dr. Safaddin Osman Humada said in statement to SUNA that the project is a joint Sudanese- Saudi venture involving private sector from the two countries in collaboration with Belarussia and Germany.
The annual production of the factor is estimated of 250,000 tons of raw sugar, 500,000 tons of fodder and 7million liters of ethanol said, Dr. Humada.
