Khartoum, April.22 (SUNA) – Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Prof. Yasser Abbas reviewed, Wednesday, at his office, with the US Change D’ Affaires in Khartoum, the latest developments and the obstacles impeding the assumption of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam negotiations, as well as, the US investments following the country’s reintegration in the international community.

The minister, during the meeting, outlined that the time passes without reaching a legal agreement regarding the Renaissance Dam, in light of Ethiopia's adherence to the initiation of the second unilateral filling of the dam next July, a matter that, constitutes a threat to the safety of the water facilities the bank of the Blue Nile and the White Nile and the Sudanese citizens.

Prof. Abass has called for the necessity to avoid the aggravation of the situations in the region Because of Ethiopian obstinacy.

The US diplomat expressed understanding to the Sudanese stance and his country’s desire to reach an agreement accepted by all.

He also expressed the desire of American companies to invest in the post-revolution, referring to his country's direction to appoint a new American Envoy to the Horn of Africa in the near future.
