Khartoum, April 28 (SUNA) – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning Wednesday received the resident representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Sudan, and discussed prospects of continuous cooperation and the projects of JICA since  the year 2008 in the various sectors of water, health, agriculture, solid waste, sustainable peace and training.

JAICA representative has given a detailed explanation on the programs implemented by JICA in Sudan and the ongoing efforts of Japan government in implementing these programs and strengthening the coordination between government partners in the implementation and follow-up of the projects that the organization is implementing in Sudan.

JICA Resident Representative expressed his desire for more aid to implement many projects after being identified by Sudan government, calling for the establishment of a joint body between the Ministry of Finance and the organization in order to perform its assigned role and tighten control over the implementation of the established projects.

The Undersecretary of Planning has emphasized his concern with training and capacity building to raise the efficiency and capabilities of young people at the production areas and to benefit from the capabilities of the graduates and to qualify them in various development programs.

He called on JICA to benefit from crop production by small scale farmers at the agricultural production areas in a number of states by implementing programs of food processing to achieve food security.
