Khartoum, May 3 (SUNA) – The Cabinet Affairs Minister, Engineer Khalid Omer Yousif, received at Khartoum Airport a US Congress delegation headed by the member of the Foreign Relations Committee at the US Senate, Senator Christopher Cunz, accompanied by Senator Chris Van Hollen of Maryland.

The visit of the US Congress delegation to the country aims to enhance the strategic and economic relations and cooperation between the two countries, as the delegation will hold meetings with the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lieutenant General Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, the Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Hamdouk, and a number of ministers.

It is worth noting that Senator Kunz is concerned with support to Sudan and the transitional government and has sponsored the Sovereign Immunity Act for Sudan, which was presented in Congress last year, and under which the immunity was restored to Sudan after its name was removed from the list of states sponsoring terrorism.
