Khartoum, May 4 (SUNA) – Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim met, at his office, Tuesday, the delegation of the US Congress, currently on a visit to the country, led by Senator, Christopher Coons.

Dr. Ibrahim, in press statements described the meeting as serious and fruitful, affirming that the visit will push forward the Sudanese-US relations.

 He underlined that the US delegation had strong stances in support of the democratic transition in Sudan, thanking the US for backing up the revocation the country’s name from the list of the countries sponsoring terrorism.

“They are also behind the US Congress’s decision to pay 700 million dollars in aid for the democratic transition. Besides, strongly support Sudan in the Paris conference scheduled for mid-May” the minister stressed.

He underlined that the US delegation came from neighboring Ethiopia to support the efforts being exerted for finding solution for the Ethiopian Dam and the border issue.
