Khartoum, June 24 (SUNA) – Prime Minister Dr. Abdallah Hamdouk, the chairperson of current session of IGAD, received at his office here today visiting Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan Hussein Abdelbagi, and the accompanying delegation.

South Sudanese Minister of General Education Ms. Awut Deng Acuil said in a press statement that Hamdouk received a briefing during the meeting on the progress of implementation of South Sudan peace agreement besides the progress realized so far in the Sudanese peace talks in Juba.

She indicated that the meeting discussed enhancing cooperation between Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan in several fields and providing services, and discussed issues of trade and the communities living on the borders in harmony, noting that the Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan promised to send ministers from the Government of the Republic of South Sudan to discuss with their counterparts in Sudan memoranda of understanding on various issues.

Ms. Acuil expressed her thanks to the leadership and Prime Minister Dr. Abdallah Hamdouk for the decision taken by the Council of Ministers to treat students of the Republic of South Sudan like Sudanese students in paying tuition fees, explaining that the meeting discussed the importance of enhancing the program for regional integration as two countries living in harmony, and how to make borders as means to enhance the well-being of the two peoples.
