Khartoum, Oct. 10 (SUNA) - The new British Ambassador to Sudan, Mr. Giles Lever, has affirmed the United Kingdom's support for Sudan in its transition to a more stable, peaceful and prosperous country with a democratically elected government, including its support in establishing and strengthening important transitional institutions and successful implementation of the Juba Peace Agreement.
Mr. Lever said in a press statement that the UK's support also includes developing the strategic partnership with post-revolution Sudan in the fields of education, trade, investment and climate change.
The Troika countries (the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Norway) expressed earlier their strong support for the democratic transition of Sudan, and rejection to any attempts to obstruct or disrupt the efforts of the Sudanese people to create a democratic, peaceful and prosperous future.
They pointed out that the civilian and military components and all political actors, must work together to prevent threats to the democratic transition, establish transitional institutions, and address tensions in the east and other areas.
