Khartoum, Oct.19 (SUNA) - The Acting Attorney-General, Mubarak Mahmoud Osman, received today the final report on Zalingai’s incident that left one student dead.
Chairman of the Investigation Committee Suleiman Omda Haggana said that the final report contained the measures taken by the committee with regard to the criminal reports that were leveled in the various State police stations under articles 174/175/182/130 of the Criminal Code of 1991, where a number of (26) suspects were arrested and the accusation was directed against the fugitive defendants.
Haggana indicated that the final report also included the material damages that were counted by the committee, whose financial value in total amounted to about (283,600,000 pounds), which represents the value resulted in from damage and fire to the properties and furniture of the secretariat of the State government and other government institutions and that the report recommended reopening the university for students to continue their study.
The details of the incident dated back to 31 August,2021 student protests at Zalingai University in Central Darfur State that left student Izz-Eddin Omer Mousa dead and some others wounded.
Afterwards, the Acting Attorney-General, Mubarak Mahmoud Osman, formed an investigation committee chaired by head of the general prosecution, Suleiman Omda Haggana, Prosecutor, Husham Al Amin as rapporteur and including membership of representatives of Ministry of Justice, military judiciary , police and the Rapid Support Forces.
