Khartoum, Oct. 23 (SUNA) - The Media Alliance for Support to the Transition has condemned in the strongest terms the storming of the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) building by an unruly group, and the use of violence in an attempt to prevent a press conference of a group of the Forces for Freedom and Change, who were Yasser Arman and Dr. Naji Al-Asam and Siddiq Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi and Mubarak Bakhit

The alliance stressed that it condemns this irresponsible behavior and those behind it and calls on the competent authorities to take deterrent legal measures to stop such disgraceful behavior.

The alliance has called for the protection of journalists and expressed its solidarity with Sudan News Agency (SUNA) in the measures that it will take to protect its building, journalists and staff.

It affirmed that such a disgraceful behavior warns of consequences that threaten the freedom of the press and the safety of journalists which is enshrined by the international and national conventions.

The alliance has rejected the use of violence, with the aim to threaten the stability and the smooth transition to democracy.
