Khartoum Nov.10 (SUNA) - The Secretary-General of the National Council for Child Welfare(NCCW), Dr. Abdul Qadir Abu, met with the delegation of the Sudanese National Deaf Children’s Society in his office this morning.

The meeting discussed the importance of early hearing detection for newborns and attention to the issues of the deaf as they have classified as people with  special needs, and assured the need to provide early hearing detection devices for newborns and the association's need to provide detection devices to all states of Sudan, which are estimated at about $250,000.

The meeting also discussed the importance of including early detection of hearing in the early immunization program for newborns.

Dr. Abdul Qader Abu  said the Council is carrying out its duties towards childhood issues and its concern with  all segments of people with special needs, especially deaf children, explaining that advocacy for childhood issues and tight coordination with the relevant authorities are among the tasks and functions of the NCCW.
