Khartoum, Dec. 26 (SUNA) – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah Omer Bashir, received, today, in his office Vladimir Geltov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Sudan.

The meeting has discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them, while the undersecretary has praised the level of historical relations between the two friendly countries, and Russia's support for Sudan in many international situations.

The Undersecretary has briefed the Russian Ambassador on the recent political developments in the country, and arrangements for returning to the path of democratic transition, referring to the efforts made by Prime Minister, Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk to form a new government.

The Russian ambassador, on his part, reiterated his country's firm support for Sudan in various fields, pointing to the importance of coordination between the two countries in international forums, stressing Russia's readiness to fulfill its obligations related to granting wheat shipments to Sudan at the end of this year.

The meeting has asserted the need to implement what was agreed upon in the meetings of the political consultation committees held last September in Moscow, and to arrange for the next round to be held in Khartoum in September of next year, pointing to the resumption of the meetings of the joint ministerial committees after the formation of the new government.
