El Fasher, DEC 30 (SUNA) - The North Darfur state police managed today to arrest a number of suspects accused of looting the contents of the World Food Program (WFP) warehouses in El Fasher, which occurred last night and the day before yesterday. They were arrested carrying large quantities of food and other things.

The director of the Criminal Department of the State Police, Brigadier- General Saad Mustafa Ahmed, said in a statement to (SUNA) that the police were able to arrest the accused, among the intruders and citizens, who had in their possession large quantities of food loaded on pick-ups and other animal-drawn vehicles, adding that the police in the had begun their mission in filing suis against detainees in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure, in preparation for their submission to the courts.

 Brigadier General Ahmed described the events of the looting of the World Food Program’s warehouses, and before that, the looting of the UNAMID headquarters as uncivilized and undignified behavior, and contrary to all laws and norms, adding that these stolen materials are humanitarian aid from donors in support of poor families and the displaced, calling on citizens to stay away from this behavior and not slip towards Acts that expect them to be punished by law.
