Al-Fasher, Jan. 8 (SUNA) - The former headquarters of the (UNAMID) mission in Al-Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, will witness tomorrow (Sunday) launching of the procedures for implementing the security arrangements clause stipulated in the Juba Agreement for Peace in Sudan, which was n signed in October 2021.

The Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Gen. (Engineer) Khalid Abidin Al-Shami, who arrived in Al-Fasher on Thursday at the head of a high-ranking delegation, said that the implementation of the security arrangements will begin with the procedures for accommodating the joint security force of special tasks in Darfur, which will include 3,300 men equally between the forces of the armed struggle movements and the regular forces.

He said that that the administrative procedures for forming the joint force of special tasks will last for two weeks and will be followed by the start of training which will last for three months.

Meanwhile, the Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Nimir Mohamed Abdul-Rahman, pointed out that the start of the formation of the joint security force for Darfur comes as a first step to complete the implementation of the security arrangements clause, and affirms seriousness of all parties, especially the parties of the peace process in their quest for implementation of the security arrangements clause which is stipulated in the Juba Agreement for peace in Sudan.
