Khartoum, Jan. 12 (SUNA) – A meeting held by the Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abul-Gasim Burtom, with the committee assigned to review the increase in the electricity prices on Wednesday decided freezing the decision of the Ministry of Finance on increase of the electricity price in the agricultural, industrial and residential sectors until it is presented to the Sovereignty Council.

The committee assigned to review the electricity prices included representatives of the Ministries of Finance, Agriculture and Energy.

In a press statement, the Wali (governor) of the Northern State, Awad Ahmed Gadoura, who attended the meeting, said in a press statement that the increase in the electricity prices had significant repercussions and effects on the political, economic and security situations, as well as its negative impacts on the agricultural and industrial sectors.

He said that the meeting decided to freeze the increase in electricity price immediately, as of today (Wednesday).
