Khartoum, Jan. 15 (SUNA) – The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council and General Commander of the Armed Forces, Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, Saturday noon received in his office a message from Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission, Moussa Faki, who handed him a written message related to the African Union’s vision on the political developments in Sudan and the ways to surpass the crisis in the country.

The message was handed to Gen. Al-Burhan by the AU Commissioner of Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye.

In a press statement the AU envoy affirmed the African Union’s readiness to support the political accord between all the political parties for achieving political transition in Sudan. 

He stressed the commitment of the African Union to consult with the government, the stake-holders and all societal components to reach an executable peaceful political solution.

Adeoye expressed the African Union's concern about the situation in Sudan which is one of the founding countries of the African Union, pointing to the union's commitment to respect Sudan sovereignty.

He called for the renunciation of violence and giving priority to the national interest and the prosperity of Sudan, a matter which requires the strong will of all stake-holders.

He added that the African Union is keen to communicate with all international partners and the international community to reach an agreement that ends the political crisis in Sudan without abandoning to the role of the African Union in this regard.
