Al-Fasher, Jan. 26 (SUNA) – Sultan Ahmed Hussein Ayoub Ali Dinar has officially launched from Al-Fasher city, the capital of North Darfur, his initiative for peace and peaceful and social co-existence in Darfur region amid a big presence of people, led by the Governor of Darfur Region, Menni Arko Mennawi, the Wali (governor) of North Darfur State, Nimir Mohamed Abdul-Rahman, and members of his government along with leaders of the political parties, the civil society organizations, the native administrations, the youth and women and the UN missions.
Addressing the celebration held for launching the initiative, the Governor of Darfur region, Menni Arko Mennawi, expressed his pleasure for the launching of the initiative for peace and peaceful co-existence in Darfur.
He called on all the people of Darfur to support the initiative and to make it a success.
He said that the initiative is hoped to bring back Darfur to its bright history and its social and cultural co-existence and to erase the bitterness of the past.
The Wali (governor) of North Darfur, Nimir Mohamed Abdul-Rahman, has welcomed the initiative of Sultan Dinar, affirming that the initiative is suitable for achieving social peace, discarding hatred, regionalism and tribalism based on the major and important pillars that it includes.
On his part,
Sultan Dinar explained that his initiative came after the events that Darfur witnessed and failure of the past governments to resolve them, indicating that the initiative is based on the historical legacy of the Darfurian sultans to reach peaceful coexistence.
He expressed his hope that all the people of Darfur will sit together to address the region problems, indicating that his initiative will not exclude no one and will not ignore the opinion of anyone.
He stated that the initiative aims to concluding a charter to renounce criminals and violence and hate, pointing to the importance of agreeing on mechanisms to implement the initiative on the ground.
Sultan Dinar called on the international community to contribute to the success of the initiative, wishing that security and stability in Darfur would be achieved.
