Khartoum, Feb. 15 (SUNA) - The Federal Minister of Health in charge and the Ambassador of the State of Spain in Sudan visited today the cold chain of (Covid-19) vaccines at the Institute of Health, in the presence of UNICEF Representative and employees of the institute.

The Minister and his accompanying delegation reviewed the cold chain of (Covid-19) vaccines and how to store the vaccine in the new (Covid-19) vaccine unit and the Pfizer vaccine in the central warehouse for storing vaccines.

"We will receive two million and three hundred thousand jabs of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine from the State of Spain," said Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, the Acting Minister of Health, during his address to the meeting at the Institute of Health, in the presence of the Spanish ambassador in Sudan and the UNICEF official in Sudan, in addition to a number of partners.

He added that the visit came with the purpose of assessing the chain's readiness to receive this number of doses, and to preserve it in a proper manner to be distributed to the different states, noting that the Ministry of Health during the last period, along with partners, carried out a great work in the field of providing the necessary doses of the corona vaccine for all of Sudan.


"We hope that we will be able to vaccinate all those targeted in Sudan during this year," he added.


The minister stressed the importance of raising health awareness among citizens to take the vaccine, urging all citizens to go to the centers and sites for taking the Corona vaccine.


He referred to the achievements made by the ministry during the past period, in cooperation with UNICEF and a number of partners, to raise the possibility of this series to save vaccines and combat (Covid-19).

The Spanish Ambassador, Isidro Gonzalez, on his part, , expressed his happiness for visiting the cold chain to preserve Corona vaccines, noting that the Spanish government donated to Sudan vaccines from the Johnson & Johnson dose, and that six hundred and eighty thousand doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine will arrive tomorrow, noting that Spain’s total donation With the Corona vaccine for Sudan, top more than two million and three hundred thousand jabs.

Mandeep O'Brien, representative of UNICEF in Sudan, stressed the importance of pushing citizens to take the vaccination to prevent (Covid-19), expressing her happiness to work with the ministry and partners within the initiative of the mechanism to deliver the Covid-19 vaccination to the whole world.
