Khartoum, Feb. 27 (SUNA) – The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq Ali, received in his office today the Head of IGAD mission in Sudan, Dr. Osman Belail, where the meeting touched on the developments in the country and the region in light of Sudan's presidency of the IGAD organization.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs indicated that contacts are being made to hold an emergency summit of the IGAD countries, whose date, venue and agenda are to be determined in the near future.

The Minister expressed thanks for the visit of the Executive Secretary to Sudan and the report he prepared on the visit.

On the other hand, the Head of the IGAD mission in Sudan, touched on a number of activities and projects implemented by the organization in the country in the fields of health, animal resources and agriculture, with funding from the German Development Agency, the European Union and the World Bank.

He explained that IGAD organization has conducted many political consultations with heads of political parties, academics and civil society organizations since last January, in an effort to bring the views of the Sudanese parties closer together.
