Khartoum, Apr. 13 (SUNA) – The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Mohamed Hassan Dahab, discussed with the Turkish Ambassador to Khartoum Irfan Nazir Oglu a number of files and issues in the fields of higher education.

During his meeting today at his office, Professor Dahab asserted his ministry’s keenness to develop scientific cooperation relations between the two countries, and to continue the activities initiated by the two sides in the past period, pointing to the need to prepare for holding meetings of the Sudanese-Turkish Technical Committee, indicating the importance of opening the file of the joint Sudanese-Turkish university  to complete all the arrangements related to its establishment, promising to consider the release of the frozen scholarships for the Turkish side.

The Turkish Ambassador, on his part, expressed concern over the slow pace of cooperation opportunities in the past period, especially in the establishment of Turkish language departments in Sudanese universities, the scholarships for Turkish students from the Sudanese side (10 scholarships annually), stressing the need to expedite the project of establishing the Turkish-Sudanese joint university.

The two sides have emphasized excellency of technical training opportunities offered by the Turkish Vocational Training Center in Halfaya, stressing the need to address the universities of the two countries to activate memoranda of understanding and agreements concluded between the Sudanese and the Turkish universities during the coming period.
