Khartoum, June 28 (SUNA) - The Department of Constitutional Affairs and Research at the Ministry of Justice organized today a workshop entitled "Environmental Governance in the Framework of Federal Rule", in attendance of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Hon. Howaida Ali Awadal-Karim, a number of heads of departments, interested parties and researchers.

Hon. Howaida said when addressing the opening session that the workshop is being held at an appropriate time, stressing that the ministry will adopt its recommendations, praising the great efforts made by the Constitution Department at this important stage.

The workshop reviewed a working paper on the axes of rational environmental governance and the federalism of natural resources presented by General Counsel Tariq Mubarak Majzoub, Head of the Constitution and Research Department, and another paper entitled "Environmental Governance,” presented by General Counsel Dr. Somaya Mohamed Abdalla.

Hon. Tariq Al-Majzoub discussed in his paper the constitutional and legal framework of federalism and the concept and characteristics of federalism.

The environmental governance paper noted the role of environmental governance in achieving sustainable development and stressed the need to study the concept of environmental governance, which is considered one of the modern concepts.
