Khartoum, June 28 (SUNA) - Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi has praised the strong and historical relations linking Sudan with the United Kingdom.

This came when Kabbashi received at his office at the Republican Palace today UK Special Envoy for Sudan and South Sudan, Robert Fairweather.

The Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council assured the necessity of consolidating and developing bilateral relations to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries and meet their aspirations.

Kabbashi briefed the British envoy on the current political situation, pointing to the need for concerted efforts and hard work to reach a unified vision to complete the democratic transition and get out of the current political crisis.

The Member of the Sovereignty Council indicated that the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan, based on the responsibility of the Special Envoy, and ways to support and develop them, and push them to broader horizons.
