Juba, July 26 (SUNA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of IGAD Ministerial Council His Excellency Ambassador Ali Al-Sadiq, who is on an official visit to South Sudan that aim at supporting the peace process in the country in addition to discussing aspects of bilateral relations met Monday His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit, President of the Republic of South Sudan, His Excellency Dr. Riek Machar, First Vice President of South Sudan, and His Excellency Hussein Abdul-Baqi Akol, Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan.
The Minister assured the leaders of South Sudan keenness of the Government of Sudan on achieving sustainable peace and to move forward with the revitalized South Sudan Peace Agreement and to build on the provisions of the agreement thanks to the wisdom that has been shown by the parties to the agreement to complete the rest of the terms in order to reach the lasting peace that all parties aspire to.
During those meetings, the Minister heard briefings by His Excellency President Salva Kiir and the Vice Presidents on the progress of implementing the peace agreement of South Sudan and the challenges facing some of the provisions of the agreement, with their full affirmation of taking all measures to ensure that these challenges are overcome through dialogue between the parties to the agreement and with the help of the countries of the region.
His Excellency the Minister assured the leadership of Southern Sudan that Sudan seeks to assist the government and people of South Sudan to complete the peace process and will spare no effort to support this process based on Sudan's presidency of the IGAD and the close relations between the two sisterly countries.
He also discussed the file of bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to advance the fields of cooperation between them to broader horizons in order to achieve the higher interests of the two peoples, stressing Sudan's keenness to promote joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields during the coming period.
