Khartoum, July 26 (SUNA) - Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Shams-Eddin Kabbashi chaired today at the Republican Palace a meeting to discuss issues of financing summer agricultural season, in the presence of a number of concerned ministers, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Director of the Agricultural Bank and the Director of the General Intelligence Service besides acting Wali (Governor) of South Kordofan State.

The Federal Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Dr. Abu Bakr Omer Al-Bushra, said in a press statement that the meeting discussed issues of summer agricultural season, and purchasing of seeds for small farmers, pointing to the commitment of the Ministry of Finance today to pay the amounts to supply seeds for the farmers.

He also referred to agreement of the Agricultural Bank with petroleum companies on delivery of fuel to the states, in addition to providing the necessary funding for the summer agricultural season.

 For his part, the acting Wali of South Kordofan State, Musa Jabr Mahmoud, said that the meeting reviewed the obstacles facing the summer agricultural season and ways to provide all requirements for its success, adding that the meeting touched upon a number of issues of South Kordofan State.

He indicated that the targeted farming area in the state amounts to five million feddans, pointing to the commitment of the competent authorities to find urgent solutions to issues and problems facing the agricultural season in Sudan.

The Wali of South Kordofan State affirmed his government's keenness to secure the agricultural season and livestock movement paths and to avoid frictions between farmers and herders.
