
El-Daein, July 29(SUNA)-The Governor of Darfur Region, Menni Arko Minnawi, chaired yesterday in El-Daein, capital of East Darfur State, the 7th regular meeting of Walis (governors) of the five Darfur States in the presence of the deputy governor of the Darfur region, Mohamed Issa Elao.
The meeting discussed a host of issues of concern to Darfur states.
The Deputy Governor of the Darfur Region, Dr Elao said in a press statement following the meeting that the meeting discussed overall security issues in the five Darfur states , disclosing that the rate of crime and tribal clashes has significantly dropped according to security reports presented by walis of the states.
The deputy governor acknowledged existence of some problems between communities and affirmed the government serious endeavor to address such problems.
He indicated to existence of joint security plan for the regular forces in all Darfur states on combatting all forms of crime and passive phenomena, unveiling that the meeting has reaffirmed necessity of launching a major campaign for collecting the unlicensed weapons and motorcycles.
