Khartoum, July 30 (SUNA) - The Workshop on "The Troubled Sudan and the Hopeful Future", organized by My Country's  Experts Group at the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Saturday recommended reviewing the agreements with the companies investing in minerals field, compared to the situation in other regional countries, enacting legislations regulating the minerals and developing them, as well as preparing the Geology Department to live up to its role in promoting its laboratories to keep pace with global progress and entry of the government as a major party in the investment.

The workshop also recommended the importance of creating a grass-roots a constructive and transparent dialogue, implementing the outcomes of the dialogue with clear mechanisms and making it one of the supreme interests of the state "national security", forming a people's parliament in addition to the elected parliament, and the importance of immediate start to formulate accurate statistics on corruption with the participation of responsible actors of the Prosecution, the Judiciary, the Police Forces, lawyers and activists, and to prevent the official sovereign authorities not to interfere in corruption cases, whether positively or negatively.

The workshop recommended reviewing the political funding of parties, organizations and individuals, raising the cultural and social level of citizens to confront any indications or calls of racist and regional aspects in the state, preventing exploitation of the politicians and statesmen of racism and regionalism crises or the consequences of wars and armed or non-armed disputes, and determining deterrent sanctions for anyone who engages in racism or regionalism acts.

The workshop was administered by Prof. Ahmed Sabah- Al-Khair and reviewed a number of papers, including the political crisis in Sudan – causes and solutions, the role of mineral resources and their contribution to sustainable development, dimension and risks of racism and regionalism in Sudan, the importance of community dialogue in reforming the economic and political situation in Sudan and the economics of corruption in Sudan.
