Khartoum, Aug. 3 (SUNA) - The 10th session of the Political Consultation Committee between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan and the Russian Federation was held on Wednesday in the buildings of the Guest House of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired chaired by the Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dafa’alla Al-Haj Ali, and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, in the presence of the delegations of the two countries.
The meeting reviewed ways to strengthen further the bilateral relations in the various political, economic, cultural, educational, training and human capacity-building fields through the resumption and revitalization of joint work mechanisms represented in the joint political consultation committee between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the ministerial economic and trade committee, headed by the Ministers of Minerals and Natural Resources in the two countries in the coming period.
The meeting also tackled completion of the ratification procedures by the Sudanese and Russian sides of the agreement exempting diplomatic passport holders in the two countries from entry visas, which will enter into force in the coming days.
The two sides also agreed to enhance the cooperation between the two countries at the United Nations and the international forums.
The internal developments in the two countries were reviewed during the session, as the Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry provided gave a briefing on the developments and the current political situation in Sudan, and the quest to achieve political accord that would lead the transitional period in Sudan and free and fair elections.
The Sudanese and Russian sides have exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of concern to the two countries, as well as the Russian - Ukrainian crisis, its impact on the world, and ways to find peaceful solutions to it.
