Khartoum, Aug 8(SUNA) - The President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has  affirmed Sudan's keenness to strengthen its relations with the Kingdom of Norway to serve the interest of the two friendly peoples and boost the prospects for joint cooperation.

This came when he met in his office today, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Sudan, Teresa Loken Gazel, on the occasion of the expiry of her term of office in Sudan.

The President of the Sovereignty Council expressed his thanks and appreciation for the stances of the Kingdom of Norway in support of Sudan and its efforts to support the peace process in the country. 

He renewed the assurances of the military institution to withdraw from the political process, calling on the parties and the revolutionary forces to agree in order to form a civilian government to manage the remainder of the transitional period and complete the remaining transition institutions in preparation for free and fair elections, at the end of the transitional period.

 Al-Burhan thanked the Norwegian ambassador for her role in developing bilateral relations and enhancing areas of cooperation between Sudan and the Kingdom of Norway.

The Norwegian diplomat, on her turn,   indicated in a press statement that the meeting was an opportunity to discuss the diplomatic relations between Khartoum and Oslo, describing them as distinguished and developed relations, pointing to the fruitful cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

 The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway expressed her hope that Sudan would enjoy security, stability and development.
