Khartoum, Auig.17(SUNA)-Member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Al-Tahir Abubakr Hajar, concluded today a two-day inspection visit to Gezira State during which he inspected villages, towns and neighborhoods  which have been affected by torrential rains which hit Gezira State recently.

 Hajar was accompanied by Minister of Roads and bridges and representatives of  the federal health ministry and civil defense council.

The TSC member described in a press statement the situation in Gezira State as catastrophic  and the damage as huge and exceeded  capabilities of the the state and its localities, pointing out that the affected people are in  need of  shelter, foodstuff and health assistance.

 He called for concerted  people and government efforts to overcome the current situation.

Hajar commended efforts made by  Al-Managil’s philanthropists  and government of Gezira  State to provide some humanitarian assistance to the affected people , calling on  sons of Gezira State in general and Al-Managil in particular  to provide assistance to the torrential rains-affected people.

He stressed that  the government would continue efforts  to address the situation in Al-Managil locality.
