Khartoum, Aug. 23 (SUNA) - A prominent regional centre in weather forecasts has affirmed increase of heavy rains in large parts of Sudan, especially the southern and southwestern parts of the country, which include the States of White and Blue Nile, Sennar, Gedaref, Darfur and Greater Kordofan.

The IGAD Climate Prediction and Application Centre said in its weekly bulletin issued today that climatic readings tend to expect "heavy to very heavy rain" in the southern and southwestern areas of the Republic of Sudan, and the same applies to areas in central northern Ethiopia and northern South Sudan.

The centre indicated that during the period from 23-30 August, temperatures are expected to rise above average in central northern Sudan, northwestern Kenya, central and northern parts of Ethiopia, western Rwanda and southwestern Tanzania.
