Khartoum, Sep. 21 (SUNA) - Sudan delegation has  participated in the Education Transformation Summit that was held during September 16 - 19 2022 at the General Secretariat of the United Nations in New York, with high-level participation of heads of state and government, representatives of civil society, the international organizations as well as stakeholders.

The leaders of the countries renewed their political commitment to education, which provides a unique opportunity to enhance humanity, and stressed the importance of compensating the losses suffered by the education sector and the negative effects that the sector suffered during the corona virus pandemic.

The summit agreed on the importance of achieving the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals related to the quality of education by 2030, by preparing better societies through the laying the laying down of solid educational foundations.

 The summit was addressed by the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Lt.-Gen. Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan, through a recorded message, in which he stressed that education reform and advancement are among the most important priorities of Sudan, especially to keeping pace with the modern global trends and bridging the digital gap, as well as introducing information and communication technology in the schools and educational institutions, and working to provide an appropriate educational environment.

He said that education is a human right, and that the priorities of educational and the educational policies in Sudan are providing opportunities for all without discrimination, enhancing the educational curricula and keeping pace with scientific progress.

He also called on the United Nations and its specialized agencies, the friendly and brotherly countries, and international financial institutions to show political will and to contribute to supporting Sudan efforts to transform education by financing the educational institutions, strengthening the infrastructures, establishing safe and healthy schools, and financing computerization and digitization programs, so that Sudan can achieve quality education, as one of the sustainable development goals.
